Licensed: State Department of Health and Human Services ensures that children attending NH child care programs are in safe and healthy environments and are provided with care, supervision and developmentally appropriate activities that meet each child's physical and emotional needs. This is accomplished through on-site evaluations, monitoring, and investigations that ensure compliance with applicable NH Statutes and Administrative Rules, approval and issuance of licenses, and initiation of appropriate disciplinary action when necessary for compliance and the protection of children.
Licensed Plus: A quality rating system that recognizes NH child care programs for efforts to improve the quality of care for young children and rewards programs that strive to improve their practices and staff qualifications. It also allows families to identify programs with higher quality.
Accredited: Accredited programs have gone through a rigorous process of self-study and outside evaluation and have met national standards of higher quality child care based on best practice. Accreditation has provided a tool through which early childhood professionals, families, and others concerned about the quality of early childhood education can evaluate and strengthen child care programs.
